NEW: Toole Design Group's 345 Framework Plan Released

In 2016, TxDOT released its CityMAP plan, which showed that a surface option for IH345 would have by far the most economic benefit and negligible negative effect on traffic compared to other options.  However, it would take 24 years to realize.  This was too far into the future and the need is now.  So the Coalition for a New Dallas is thrilled to present these two documents, Toole Design Group’s 345 Framework Plan and Space Between Design Studio’s Summary Document, culminating nearly two years of work in order to help expedite the process transforming Dallas into a 21st century city with greater choice and opportunity for all.  The Framework Plan builds off CityMAP to further refine the two most likely options:  turning a large trench highway into a small trench for pass-through traffic and a more robust network of surface boulevards.  The Summary Document highlights the key aspects from CityMAP, the Framework Plan, and an overarching history and impact of highways on cities and communities for an “all-in-one” document. This effort has helped expedite TxDOT's Feasibility Study exploring the potential future options for the IH345 corridor. In order see one of these visions come to fruition, we hope these documents will help the next city council choose a path towards a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous Dallas.
